Endless beaches and Saharan desert
Film locations in Fuerteventura
100 km from Africa, Fuerteventura is the oldest and driest island in the archipelago: 1,660 km² of desert, pristine beaches over 20 km long, Saharan sand dunes and intact rural architecture evoking western or Middle Eastern settings.
Overview
Fuerteventura is the natural choice when the script calls for desert, dunes or pristine coast without visual contamination. Cofete is possibly the most cinematic beach in Europe: 12 km of golden sand with no buildings, flanked by red mountains falling straight into the Atlantic.
The Corralejo Dunes (Natural Park), El Jable, the Jandía peninsula, the white villages of Betancuria (historic capital since 1404) and the isolated lighthouses of the west coast are locations with their own character. Low light pollution makes Fuerteventura a Starlight destination.
Infrastructure is less developed than Tenerife or Gran Canaria — which is precisely its value. Few international crews have saturated the island. You could be the first to discover that cove, that lighthouse, that red mountain.
