A continent in miniature

Film locations in Gran Canaria

Called a "continent in miniature" by UNESCO, Gran Canaria packs African dunes, deep ravines, colonial towns, pine forests and Atlantic beaches into 1,560 km². International airport with over 150 direct connections.

Overview

Gran Canaria is the most contrasted island in the archipelago. In under an hour you can go from the Maspalomas dunes (Special Nature Reserve) to the historic town of Vegueta in Las Palmas (UNESCO Heritage candidate), or climb from coast to the pine forests of Tamadaba at 1,400 metres.

The island's interior is a maze of ravines and mountain landscapes almost unknown outside the Canary Islands: Tejeda and Roque Nublo, Artenara with its cave architecture, Agaete with its green valley. The south means beach and stable climate 12 months a year.

For international productions, Gran Canaria offers solid audiovisual infrastructure, an airport with direct connections throughout Europe, 5-star hotels with capacity for crews, and an audiovisual free zone (ZEC) with 4% corporate tax benefits.
